John Crockett diaries, 1954-2008.

Detailed diaries of a noted newspaper reporter and diplomat, who made his home in Unionville, Connecticut. Crockett spent 37 years as an information officer and diplomat with the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Information Agency. He lived in Italy, Yugoslavia, Romania, Austria, Philippines, Tunisia and Israel. His entries include lists of books he read during a year, the movies he had seen, the new places he had visited and new people he met. He also recorded such daily activities as social events, exhibit opening, meals (giving detailed menus and a list of guests), learning languages, and mowing grandma's lawn. After his retirement in 1984, he became actively involved in the Unionville Museum and other cultural activities in the Farmington area, which are also documented in his diaries.
